Traditional Indigenous Games
Overview
Join an exciting collaboration between the Institute of Indigenous Wellbeing and Sport (IIWS) and the Shire of Narrogin.
This 3 hour program focuses on cultural connection for all children between 10-17 years. The program includes a cultural activity, traditional Indigenous games and a light lunch. Come and learn about indigenous culture.
The IIWS provides programs that use cultural connection as the catalyst to increase the health, and social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal Australians.
Arts Activity:
Traditional Indigenous Australian peoples were hunters and gatherers and were divided between men and women. We have organised a hunting and gathering activity for participants to learn about why this is important to Indigenous People.
Traditional Indigenous Games:
There are many Traditional Indigenous Games. Participants learn the name of the game, its history, who traditionally played it and then get to play it knowing it’s importance to Indigenous culture
